Lab work

We provide full laboratory services. Approximately 20 tests can be performed on site. The remainder of all testing is completed by LabCorp, which serves as our reference lab and is on the Student Health Insurance Plan as a preferred provider.  LabCorp can process tests ordered by the Student Health Center or outside providers. If you would like to obtain lab tests ordered by an outside provider, please bring their order with you or have your outside provider fax it to the lab: 833-414-3180.

Looking for your lab results?

If your tests are ordered by a Student Health Center provider, they will contact you via secure message regarding your lab results. Please make sure that your current email address is registered with WebSTAC
Every effort is made to contact you the same day your lab result information is received by the Student Health Center. Some lab results take several days for a result (Pap smears may take up to two weeks)
Tests ordered by an outside provider will not be available to Student Health Center staff or providers, and will not be part of your medical record. Contact the ordering provider for those results

Billing procedure

Your insurance company will be billed for: provider visits, vaccines, lab tests, medical supplies, X-rays, etc.
They send a document (EOB) explaining their payment procedures to the subscriber
If you have the school’s insurance, you are the subscriber of that plan and you will receive this document
If you are on your parent’s insurance plan, your parent is the subscriber of that plan. Your parent(s) may be notified by the insurance company that certain lab tests or procedures were done
We can’t control what an insurance company reports. If you are concerned about this, please speak with your provider before tests are completed

Radiology

X-ray imaging is an essential tool for health care providers to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of illness and injury. The Student Health Center’s X-ray department is located adjacent to the medical exam rooms and is readily available during medical appointments to avoid any delay in care.

Our radiological technologists and physicians

A radiologic technologist licensed in the State of Missouri will perform the examination. Our technologist has many years of experience and is certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

All X-rays are read by Washington University Physicians who are board certified in Diagnostic Radiology and are affiliated with The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology.  In the event that your exam suggests you would benefit from more advanced imaging, arrangements and referrals will be made for these images to take place at The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology or Barnes- Jewish Hospital.

Obtaining copies of your X-ray reports and exams

Copies of your X-ray reports and discs can be obtained free of charge after a HIPAA-compliant release form has been signed by the student.

Cost and payment

The charge per X-ray varies. The charges will be billed to the respective insurance plan. Questions about cost and coverage should be directed to your insurance company.
